Your Local Farmer

Score! ... again.

One of the things we encourage at Life On The Land is to see if we can re-use things before recycling them.  It's was just over two years ago that I wrote about this in regards to some 'junk' people had left in their front yards.  That old bathtub finally came in handy for our new residents! The new drinking trough for our new residents.

Its a great feeling being able to repurpose material that was going to be thrown into landfill and putting it towards regenerating land and giving animals a happy life.

This weekend I found some old metal sheets out the front of a house when I went to visit some family.

Leftover metal sheets

After a knock on the door and a quick conversation with some lovely people, I was allowed to take the leftover building materials for free.  These will go a long way to building more shelters for our Pasture Raised Chickens.

It just goes to show that our way of farming is something that can be implemented pretty much anywhere in the world.  There is no need for huge financial outlay, expensive machinery and chemicals ... all you need is some leftover metal sheeting and timber.
