Natural Wonder

I see so many beautiful things each day on the farm and I'd like to share two things in today's post.

I am particularly pleased with my corn at the moment.  They are growing tall and have an amazing rich green color in their foliage; all positive signs of a healthy plant.  I've been at this point many times before in my vegetable growing.  Just before a big harvest, some devastation decides to visit, be it a storm, birds, pests, etc and at times has left me with zero produce.

I stroked the long green leaves and remembered that aphids have a particular appetite for corn.  At that moment, I spotted a little ladybug patrolling the long green leaves.  I could not have been happier as ladybugs love nothing more than to eat aphids for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Isn't it amazing how nature provides balance within an environment?

I'm not out if the woods yet, although ladybugs are a very encouraging sign for my first vegetable garden here at the farm.

On the road I came across a gang of kangaroos and was just amazed at how powerful these creatures are.  With their powerful hind legs they jumped fences and weaved through trees at high speed.  A wonderful native animal that I often see.  They come to graze grass on the farm and in turn fertilize the land; I for one am happy to share with my livestock.  I have to admit, I am curious to even eat one!  They do have a far leaner meat with a higher protein content than cattle and sheep ... perhaps a future adventure?

I know I sound like a tree hugging hippy to most people. :)  I can't help it.  It is my belief that nature is beyond human intelligence to fully comprehend, yet inside these small events are insights into how perfect and powerful it truly is.
