Cover Crop Success
In early March, I planted a cover crop of cowpea and buckwheat into the swales of the olive grove. Four weeks later, on a beautiful Autumn afternoon, my wife and I too a walk through the grove to see how things were progressing. And this is what I found ...
The cowpea and buckwheat had sprouted wonderfully! This will go a long way to stablise the hillside as the heavier rains come with winter.
I was concerned with how these seeds would perform. The soil is quite clay and as can be seen above, there is a significant amount of rock, but these little beauties have certainly performed as I had hoped ... I love it when experiments go well!
