Hard Yakka
I've been working pretty hard to make my shed more habitable. There is so much to do, but first thing is first - I need a floor. So over the last couple of weeks, I have been shoveling crushed rock for a base before I concrete it. I ordered twenty cubic meters to be delivered and on the day it arrived, I began filling the inside of the shed, one wheelbarrow at a time.
There's an Australian saying for extremely hard labor, 'Hard Yakka', and let me tell you, this certainly is. I have had family come to help, which has been the best part.
Nothing brings family closer together than working hard on a project like this together. We were bone tired by the end of the day, but we joked and laughed and had a great time.
After the shed was filed with rock, I used a compactor to firm up the base. Unfortunately, I over compensated on how far the level of rock would drop and so I have a lot of excess to now remove.
I hate having to double handle materials like this, and now the rock is so compacted I need a pick to break through it ... but what can you do? That's just how it goes sometimes.
After today's long session, I'm pleased to say that I'm almost finished ... and on the bright side, I have a lot more crushed rock left to do other jobs with. Fingers crossed I finish soon!
