Oak Tree Planting
The final month of Winter is here and this is usually the time I plant bare root trees before Spring arrives. While this year I haven't been able to plant more fruit trees, it is the perfect time to plant out my Oak seedlings.
With all the rain we've had lately, digging in the holes was quite a breeze.
If you look closely at the photo above, you can see the intricate root system around the root ball. Quite amazing really when you think this seedling is only 12 months old.
And here it is ... just a little stick poking up out of the earth, but it's amazing to think that this small form of life could be around for hundreds if years. I can already see the buds forming, waiting for the warmth of spring to come to life. I will make sure to post their progress.
