Teach A Man To Fish
There was a fantastic addition to the farm this week - fish! Murray Cod fish to be exact. I went to the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, an annual event where farmers can get together to share information and learn about new innovations in agriculture.
On my walk around the show grounds I came across a stall selling fish for farm dams. There were a few species available, although I opted for Murray Cod, arguably one of the best tasting fresh water fish.
As instructed, I put the plastic bag full of 70 'fingerlings' into the water. After 10 minutes, I let some water seep in. Finally, I released the full acclimatized fish into the dam.
In two years they will be ready for harvest. In that time, I plan to build them a better habitat by including aquatic plants.
